Transition from noise-induced to self-sustained current spiking generated by a NbOx thin film threshold switch

چکیده
A transition to self-sustained current oscillations was investigated in a circuit with NbOx thin film device, acting as an artificial neuron. Above threshold of the applied voltage, begins demonstrate persistent but rather random spiking, which becomes more regular increasing voltage. Experimental measurements reveal two scaling regions interspike interval dependence on source voltage: initial logarithmic dependence, transitions power law exponent -1/2. Using numerical model neuron circuit, we observe good agreement our experimental data. We show that behavior is associated noise-induced while attributed noisy oscillations, would exist system even absence noise. These findings stress importance noise dynamics switches and shed light their spiking response variation input signals. The reported approach control oscillation neurons can help develop optimal design for neuromorphic neural networks oscillator-based computing systems.

Thin-Film Flow Influenced by Thermal Noise
We study the influence of thermal fluctuations on the dewetting dynamics of thin liquid films. Starting from the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations with thermal noise, we derive a fourth-order degenerate parabolic stochastic partial differential equation which includes a conservative, multiplicative noise term—the stochastic thin-film equation. Technically, we rely on a long-wave-approximat...
متن کاملUniversal self-field critical current for thin-film superconductors
For any practical superconductor the magnitude of the critical current density, Jc, is crucially important. It sets the upper limit for current in the conductor. Usually Jc falls rapidly with increasing external magnetic field, but even in zero external field the current flowing in the conductor generates a self-field that limits Jc. Here we show for thin films of thickness less than the London...
متن کاملSolvent induced transition from wrinkles to creases in thin film gels with depth-wise crosslinking gradients†‡
We investigated solvent induced transition of surface instability from wrinkles to creases in poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) (PHEMA) gels with depth-wise crosslinking gradients. The mode of surface instability and morphology of surface patterns was found to be dependent on the equilibrium linear expansion, which was a function of crosslinker concentration and the solvent–polymer interaction....

متن کاملAnalysis of the noise-induced bursting-spiking transition in a pancreatic b-cell model
A stochastic model of the electrophysiological behavior of the pancreatic b cell is studied, as a paradigmatic example of a bursting biological cell embedded in a noisy environment. The analysis is focused on the distortion that a growing noise causes to the basic properties of the membrane potential signals, such as their periodic or chaotic nature, and their bursting or spiking behavior. We p...
